The Exchange is a "Craigslist-type" evironment on your site that allows people to post items for sale or trade. Members can add text and upload a picture when posting a message. You as the administrator can allow people to do this as they wish or approve each posting on your website.

Turning the Exchange on/off
The Exchange feature can be turned on or off within your site as the admin by going to Admin > Config > General Settings > Site Features.

Once turned on, this page will be public on your site and people can post items to the Exchange simply by going directly to that page. In the top right corner of the page, the can choose the option to add a new item.

After they post an item, they'll get a form asking for a "key" before the message is actually posted. This "key" is emailed to them at the email address they give on the Exchange Item entry form. Once they receive this email, enter the number on the form, and the item will be posted.

The above procedure ensures that posters use their correct email address. We have found that some people like to post inappropriate or obscene messages to the Exchange; if they have to give their real email address, they almost always go elsewhere and consequently, their messages never get posted. Nothing like personal accountability!
