Explain Lower New Englands to me!

The US Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament began in 1933 as a tournament to showcase the best post-collegiate and club women's lacrosse players. Since that time, it has grown into one of the largest women's lacrosse events in the nation. It is a true celebration of women's lacrosse and continues to represent the heartbeat of the game. Tournament highlights include division championships, a U.S. Team exhibition, an annual high school all-star game and a premier recruiting opportunity for high school players in the Schoolgirls' division.

Established in 1980, the Schoolgirls' division features high school aged players representing the US Lacrosse region in which they live and play. CT belongs to the Lower New England region which is made up of players from CT, RI, and MA. Players in Grades 9-11 are selected by their coach and then attend the Lower New England tryouts in April and May. There is a tryout fee and a deadline by which all tryout information needs to be submitted. All those trying out and playing in the tournament must be members of US Lacrosse.

There is also a Seniors Only division. This division features only high school seniors who are graduating in the spring of 2014. Players are placed on teams by a committee of the Women's Division Coach's Council. Teams compete in two pools with round robin and crossover play. There are no tryouts for this division. Sign up is online on a first-come, first-served basis. You must be a member of US Lacrosse to sign up.
  
All players are evaluated by coaches representing many private and public schools in the region.  
Players participated in 7 stations showcasing their lacrosse skills, are observed in full field scrimmages, and participate in fitness testing.  
This is a very thorough and tough tryout.
