Meeting Minutes – November 23, 2009

Call to Order: 7:10 PM by Rich Heritage

President’s Report

Rich asked attendees to think about ways in which the Foundation can help the growth of lacrosse in CT through information, education, training, program support and development, etc.

Pat Thibadeau spoke about the importance of the Foundation’s website – keeping information current, encouraging its use, directing youth programs to it, etc. Anyone with news and information for the website can e-mail Pat at .

Mark Duclos talked about the convenience of using Google Reader and RSS feeds for easy access to the website and website updates. For more information, go to: https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?hl=en&nui=1&service=reader&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Freader .

Rich asked for volunteers for the open Foundation Board positions: Secretary and Treasurer. Cori Distler volunteered for Secretary. Rich stated the Treasurer position is not cumbersome – the Chapter sends out less than 100 checks/year.

VP Women & Girls Report

Marybeth Hodson talked about the upcoming CT Coaches’ Convention and the need for more presenters. Anyone interested in presenting or anyone who would like to recommend a presenter can contact Marybeth: .

Committee Reports:

CT Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Rob Hoynes reported on the progress of the HOF Banquet. There were 5 men and 3 women nominated for induction. There was discussion on timing, format, and price of the event. Majority of attendees felt that it was a good idea to hold the banquet immediately following the CT Coaches’ Convention this first year. Support was voiced for holding a separate evening event for the HOF Banquet in the future.

Training and Education

Pat talked about the Positive Coaching Alliance. If anyone is interested in hosting a PCA program, any lacrosse program in
Connecticut that is a member of US Lacrosse can book PCA programs through the Foundation, sharing in the membership discount.  The Foundation also has a limited number of PCA classes it can offer on a grant basis, at no cost. For more information, contact Pat at .

Rich talked about the Level I and II Coaches’ Clinics.
Southington is hosting a Level I clinic on February 21, 2010. East Lyme is discussing hosting a Level II clinic. Rich can send a worksheet re: what’s needed to host to anyone interested. Contact Rich at: "; em="rheritage" + '@' + em; ename="cox.net"; ename="%20rheritage" + '@' + ename; document.write('<' + 'a href="mai' + 'lto:' + em + "?subject=" + '" title="Click to email this person">' + ename + '<' + '/a>'); </a>?subject=">%[email protected]">[email protected]. More information on the coaches’ clinics can be found on the US Lacrosse website.

Officiating Training

Marybeth and Randy Bayliss talked about the CWLOA’s continued efforts to get both adults and high school players certified to officiate youth level games. There are 2 parts to the youth officiating course: a classroom session and a field-rating session. They are hoping to get folks to host the classroom sessions earlier in the year so that more field-ratings can get done. Officiating information will be posted on the Foundation website as it becomes available.

CT Coaches’ Convention

Will be held at Yale on Sunday, January 10, 2010. There is ongoing work re: agenda, format, speakers, etc. Anyone interested in helping with the convention or being a presenter, or if anyone would like to recommend a presenter, should contact Rich, Pat or Marybeth.
