President’s Report

The feedback received from the recent CT Lacrosse Foundation sponsored events (the CT Coaches Convention, CT Hall of Fame Dinner, and the USL Level I Coaches Clinic) has been great.  There were approximately 200 attendees at the CCC, approximately 245 at the HOF dinner, and approximately 100 at the Level I Coaches’ Clinic in Southington.

Steve Stenersen (President and CEO of US Lacrosse) was a guest speaker at the most recent CONNY meeting.  Steve was accompanied by Sara Noon (Managing Director of Membership), and Mark Kamyszek (Group Recruitment Associate).  Connecticut is reported to be the fifth largest Chapter in the country.

Treasurer’s Report

The 2009 year-end financial report was distributed and discussed.  Revenue and expense categories will be updated to enable the financial statement to better report Chapter activities.
We are still in need of a Treasurer for our Chapter. Anyone interested should contact Rich at

VP Women & Girls Report

Marybeth Hodson reported that we have a new High School Girls Representative for our Chapter: Phil Schneider.

Committee Reports:

CT Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Rob Hoynes reported on the success of the HOF Banquet. The committee is gathering feedback and ideas for the next CT HOF reception.  Anyone interested in helping with the next event can contact Rob.

Training and Education

There are currently 2 PCA workshops being offered, one on Saturday, Feb. 27th at Joel Barlow High School in Redding and one on Monday, March 1st at the SONO Field House in Norwalk.

Officiating Training

Marybeth reported that there are about 12 girl’s youth officiating clinics being offered around the state. They are all listed on the CT Foundation website. More will be added as they are finalized.

Four boys youth officiating clinics have or will be hosted by the CLOA and WCLOA.  These clinics wrap-up in early March.

CT Coaches’ Convention

The date for the 2011 CCC is Sunday, January 9th.  The plan is to secure a location by April 1st, then start the “Save the Date” notices on May 1st, and have registration start on November 1st.    Anyone interested in helping with the convention or being a presenter, or if anyone would like to recommend a presenter, should contact Rich, Pat, or Marybeth.

Grant Committee

Rich reported on behalf of Mark Duclos. There have been Grant requests from CLOA, Tolland, Nonnewaug, West Haven and Wolcott.  Mark is expecting more.  Applications are due April 15th. The Grant Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 21st.  Mark is looking for 2-3 more volunteers to serve on the Grant Committee.  If interested, contact him.

Member Comments

A suggestion was made to add some information to our CT Foundation website that would more clearly identify what a coach would need to do to become a USL Certified Coach.  It was also suggested that there be an organizational chart diagramming how the CT Chapter and its leagues are set up under US Lacrosse.
